Perimeter of parallelogram

             Perimeter of parallelogram:-

 Today in this article,  I will explain on the topic perimeter of parallelogram.To start writing on perimeter of  parallelogram I want to explain you ,

    What is perimeter of a shape?

    Answer:- In one word,  perimeter means the total length of whole fence of a closed shape or a open shaped body either it may be two dimensional (triangle,rectangle etc) or three dimensional (cuboid,cube etc.)

    What is the perimeter of a parallelogram?

    Answer:- We know that perimeter of a quadrilateral is the sum of its all four sides,so parallelogram is also a quadrilateral. Therefore, its perimeter will also be the sum of its all four sides,but opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal,so perimeter of a parallelogram will be,

    Perimeter of parallelogram

       = 2(b+l)
    where, b= length of the base side of the parallelogram
              l = length of the adjacent side of the base side.

    Problems related on the perimeter of a parallelogram.:-

    (1) The length of base side of a parallelogram is 20 cm and its adjacent side is 15 cm,then find its perimeter.

    Perimeter of parallelogram

    Answer:-

           ∵ The length of base side of a parallelogram (b) = 20 cm
     length of adjacent side(l) = 15 cm
       ∴ Perimeter of the parallelogram = 2(l+b)
                                = 2(15+20)cm
                                = 2× 35 cm
                                = 70 cm

    (2)The length of adjacent side of a parallelogram is 10cm , perimeter of the parallelogram 50cm; find its base side.

    Answer:-The length of adjacent side of parallelogram(b) = 10 cm
    Perimeter of the parallelogram = 50 cm
    Let, its base side = l cm
    A/Q,
           2(l+b) = 50
       => l+b = 50/2
       => l + 10 = 25
       => l = 25 - 10
      => l = 15
    ∴ length of the base side = 15 cm.

    (3) The length of base side of a parallelogram is 25cm ,perimeter of the parallelogram is 70cm; find its adjacent side.

    Answer:- Here,

      Length of base side of a parallelogram(b) = 25cm
    Perimeter of the parallelogram = 70 cm
    Let the length of adjacent  side = b cm
    Now,
    A/Q
    ∵ 2 (l+b) = 70
    =>25+b = 70/2
    =>b+ 25 = 35
    => b = 35-25
    =>b =10
    ∴The length of the adjacent side = b = 10 cm

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:-
    What is the perimeter of a rectangle ?

    Answer:- The perimeter of a rectangle = 2(l+b) where, l = length of the rectangle b = breadth of the rectangle.

    what is perimeter of a quadrilateral?

    Answer:- Perimeter of a Quadrilateral=a+b+c+d, where, a,b ,c and d are four different sides of quadrilateral

    what is the perimeter of a square?

    Answer:- The perimeter of a square = a+b+c+d, where a,b ,c and d are the sides of quadrilateral,∵ square has all sides equal,i,e; a=b==c=d so its actual perimeter=4×a, where a = measure of each side of the square.

    What is the perimeter of a circle?

    Answer:- The perimeter of a circle = 2πr where, r = radius of the circle.

    what is the semi/half perimeter of a circle ?

    Answer :- The semi/half perimeter of a circle = ½ × 2πr = πr
