Geometry Class 5 to Class 10:-
- Today in this article I will discuss on lines, ray, line segment, and various types of angles. Hope this will help a lot to the on going school students for class 5 to class 10.
- Line:-
- When some dots move very closely in any straight direction in a plane a has no width. It has no starting or end point and can be extended in both directions is termed as line.
- Ray:-
- A ray is a part of a line which has only one starting point but has no endpoint and can be extended only from one point and i.e; from endpoint.
In the figure, AB and CD are two rays.
- Line segment:-
- A line segment is also a part of a line which has starting and ending points, and can not be extended ,it has a definite length.
-
In the figure; AB and CD are two line segments.
- Angle:-
- When two rays intersect each-other at a perticular point, then an angle is formed.
In the figure;ABC is an angle.
- Acute angle:-
- The angles which measure greater than 0° but less than 90° are called acute angles.
-
In the figure;<60° is an acute angle.
-
Obtuse angle:-
- In the figure; <XYZ=120° is an Obtuse angle.
- Right angle:-
- An angle which measures 90° is called a right angle.
In the figure;<PQR=90° is a right angle.
- Straight angle:-
- An angle which measures 180 is called straight angle.
In the figure;<XYZ=180°is a straight angle.
-
Complete angle:-
- An angle which measures 360° is called a complete angle.
-
Reflex angle:-
- An angle which measures greater than 180° but less than 360° is called a reflex angle.
In the figure;<XYZ=120° So, reflex<XYZ=360°-120°=240°
- Vertically opposite angles:-
- when two lines intersect each-other at a point then four angles are formed ,the opposite angles of either side is called vertically opposite angles.
- Alternate angles:-
- When a transversal intersect two parallel lines, one interrior angle of the transversal is always equal to the other exterior angle of the transversal, such type of angles are called alternate angles.
In the figure;<ABC=<BCD are alternate angles.
- Corresponding angles:-
- When a transversal intersect two parallel lines, one remote interrior angle of the transversal is always equal to its exterior angle, such type of angles pair is called corresponding angles.
-
Complementary angles:-
- When the sum of two adjacent angles is 90° then they are called complementary angles to each other.
-
Supplementary angles:-
- When the sum of two adjacent angles is 180° then they are called supplementary angles to each other.
-
What is a transversal?
Answer:-When two parallel lines are intersect by a third line, then that line is called transversal.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:-
What is complementary angle?
Answer :- When the sum of two adjacent angles is 90°,then they are called complementary angle to each-other.
What is supplementary angle?
Answer :- When the sum of two adjacent angles is 180°,then they are called supplementary angle to each-other.
Find complementary angle of 60°
Answer:- The complementary angle of 60
= ( 90 - 60)° =30°
Find supplementary angle of 100°
Answer:- The supplementary angle of 100° = ( 180 -100)°
= 80°
Justify 30°,50° are comlementary angles or not.
Answer :- ∵ 30° + 50° = 80° which is not equal to 90°
So, 30° and 50° are not comlementary angles.
What is complementary angle?
Answer :- When the sum of two adjacent angles is 90°,then they are called complementary angle to each-other.
What is supplementary angle?
Answer :- When the sum of two adjacent angles is 180°,then they are called supplementary angle to each-other.
Find complementary angle of 60°
Answer:- The complementary angle of 60 = ( 90 - 60)° =30°
Find supplementary angle of 100°
Answer:- The supplementary angle of 100° = ( 180 -100)° = 80°
Justify 30°,50° are comlementary angles or not.
Answer :- ∵ 30° + 50° = 80° which is not equal to 90° So, 30° and 50° are not comlementary angles.
